Fall Leaves

Love our yard and trees, but oh do they have so many leaves to drop! We had Dave come by yesterday to help us get rid of somewhere around 20 bags of leaves. Today we were at it again and have another huge pile of bagged up leaves and garden. Best part is, the trees aren’t naked yet. Sigh…

We started all optimistic that helping each other, we’d be done in an hour. About 90 min in, I stopped to warm up with some hot apple cider and took some photos. We had about half the backyard leaves gathered, and I had a good part of the garden cleaned up.

Half of the yard cleaned of leaves.

Martin still blowing leaves.

Of course, there was still the other side of the backyard, under the big tree…

Half of the yard yet to gather.

In the end we had about half as many bags as last time - nine bags of leaves & three stuffed with garden cuttings, and still more leaves to drop. Sigh…

Bags waiting to go to drop-off.

Previous Adventures

  • October Catch-up

I've been sick pretty much since that last post back in September, so there's not a lot to say. However it's not like nothing has happened. We've had our first snow fall after all.

  • Playfair Graduation

My 5th Prime cohort graduated today. Woot!!! Congratulations Playfair!

  • Hummingbird Migration

So we had a warm week, then things got chilly again. While it was warm, Martin cleaned out the hummingbird feeder and we got a few birds stopping by again. This was a great educational opportunity for us.

  • Lovely Fall Weekend

We had a lovely fall weekend. It was cool, cloudy and a little rainly, and we even had to shut the windows at night. But we smoked chicken on the grill and did a little bonfire for the branches and twigs that piled up in the fire pit all summer. It was quite nice.

  • Fall is Here

So Labor Day weekend has passed, and fall is here. Seems that along with it comes a much more tired and less happy me. MN Seasons... sigh. We did have a great time over the weekend though.

  • Winter Prep!

We got a snow blower today! After the horrors of shoveling out the driveway last winter, where the snow plow basically takes all the snow down the culdesac and leaves it in front of our driveway & mailbox, we were not about to do that again.

  • Grilling!

Our second brisket grilling adventure was a success! We invited Dave over for dinner this time and kicked back on the deck for a lovely little evening.
